Crochet/amigurumi: mane for baby giraffe

Add mane to your baby giraffe, or horse or lion! For this baby giraffe I cut strands of darker yarn — about 3 inches long, not shorter than that, otherwise it would be hard to yarn over.

It is easier if you use a hook smaller than the hook you worked with to make your toy.   Work with 2 strands at a time: fold them in half, insert the hook through a vertical part of a stitch, pull out small loop, yarn over with the ends of the strand and pull them through this loop, tighten the knot. Repeat along the middle of the back of the neck and head; trim the mane to desired length.
